A selection of works by  Günther Förg inspired by Rome or that are linked to the Eternal City in various ways.

For more than four decades Günther Förg (Füssen, 1952), through the use of different means of expression, from painting to sculpture to photography and drawing, has carried out an original research on space, matter, and history. Prominent figure in the German art scene since the seventies, his creative journey continues fueled by different sources of ideas and suggestions. Many of these ideas come from the relationship that he has long established with Italy and its culture. In particular, Rome, where he has lived several times and was attracted by its more modern aspects: the urban planning of the XX century, such as the rationalist architecture of the University La Sapienza and of the EUR district, and the contemporary daily life of the city, lived in the first person during his stay in Rome. Focusing on this aspect (hence the title of the exhibition), the exhibition project presents is conceived as a tribute to the city by the artist. For this reason, the project focuses on a selection of works inspired by Rome or that are linked to Rome various ways.

Special thanks to Michael Neff, Frankfurt and to the Galleria Giò Marconi, Milan for the kind cooperation.
